| I would like to share some of my songs with you. Click the Play button to listen to a sample: |
| When the Sun Hits Your Wings |
This is a power ballad with a “Goodbye, I wish you well” message not unlike Leann Womack’s "I Hope You Dance". |
| Gone Too Long |
Every time I play this song for someone they say “Keith Urban, Keith Urban!” What do you think? |
| I Need the Moonlight |
An up-tempo, hard-hitting tune from a girl who wants more than losers and users, she wants romance. |
| Johnny B. Be Good To Me, Tonight |
Rock (?) Country (?) This is definitely a “Friday night, feelin’ right” kind of song. |
| Simple Christmas |
This is a holiday song about the uncluttered and uncomplicated feelings that make Christmas special. |
| Say Goodnight to the Moon |
I wrote this one for a film my son has in mind. I hope it reminds you of a love affair where the lovers are separated by distance. |
| Superman’s Gone |
This is a dark, brooding, angsty song about a world gone wrong. |
| This Heart Is Mine |
This song is about a woman whose heart is hard. Under no circumstances is she letting anyone near her. |
| One Desperate Moment |
A self-sufficient woman, a woman who has everything together UNTIL one desperate moment. |
| I have the unique privilege and honor of being the writing partner of a lovely, gracious and tremendously talented lady, Dolores Fuller. You might remember that Dolores wrote songs for Elvis Presley with composer Ben Weisman (“Rock-A-Hula Baby”, “I Got Lucky” and “Spinout”) and for Nat ‘King’ Cole with composer, James Van Heusen ("Someone to Tell It To"). Dolores and I have written many songs together, here are a few: |
| It Hardly Hurts Anymore |
A little bit of swing, a little bit of country and a lotta broken heart. |
| That Little Voice Inside |
A tender little ballad reminiscent of Buddy Holly’s "Everyday". |
| I wear many hats. One of them is an elementary school music teacher. I enjoy this age student and the challenge of writing songs just for them. Here are some of the things I have written for children. In addition, I have orchestrated music for the Youth Concert Series of the Las Vegas Philharmonic Orchestra |
| Sing a Story, Share a Song |
I wrote this for a festival of 250+ fifth graders. The theme of the festival was songs that tell stories. |
| Dona Nobis Pacem |
A song in Latin, which I wrote for the ethereal voices of the Tulsa Boy Singers. |
| Forever Las Vegas |
The one-hundredth anniversary of the founding of “Sin City” was the theme of a festival that featured songs about, where else, Las Vegas. After the festival, this song was performed at the Las Vegas City Counsel at the request of mayor Oscar Goodman. |
| The Princess and the Star |
A fable in song, where 5th graders are telling the story, singing the song and playing the instruments. |
| Gloria |
Bringing glory to God in both Latin and English, this anthem was written for the Tulsa Boy Singers. |
| Variations on “Ah vous dirais-je, Maman” by W.A.Mozart |
I transcribed this piano work for the Las Vegas Philharmonic’s student concerts. You might recognize the melody as "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star". |
| Cielito lindo |
An arrangement of this classic Hispanic folk song for orchestra. Another student concert work for a future performance of the Las Vegas Philharmonic. |
| My son Monte is an independent filmmaker. He has a crew of fellow actors, directors and technicians who all make films together. I am a part of that crew. I score my son’s films and the films of his colleagues. Here are examples of my film scoring: |
| Man Trapped in a Casket |
A zombie short film by my son, Monte Light. This is the main theme that shows the menace of the unknown set to a heavy beat. |
| Let’s Talk |
A short film by Greg Van Cott. This cue is for a “pleasant evening at home” Mozart sound. |
| Let’s Talk |
A ‘Stravinsky-ish’ march complete with timpani and strings. |
| Squeaky Fromme Went to the Prom |
A murder mystery short film. (Don’t let the title fool you). Monte Light tells this tragic story backwards through a series of flashbacks. It was a real challenge to score the ending, which is really the beginning. Part of the story takes place in the snow, so I used harp and an electronic flute to add to the chilling climax. |
| Squeaky Fromme Went to the Prom |
This is the beginning of the film. Notice I start with one drum that sounds like many |
| Misanthrope |
Another Monte Light short film, an adaptation of Molière’s classic play "Le Misanthrope ou l'Atrabilaire amoureux". Here is the light-hearted opening to some not so light-hearted drama. |
